Rockstar Bato Productions in Tagaytay/Batangas (Day1)

Warning: This is a photo-heavy post. PHOTODUMP TIME!

The Chinese calendar goes against me – it says Dragons, on their own year, lacks luck this year. But more than the stars, action and sheer conviction disproves what ancient belief has dictated. And since the year started, it has been a roller coaster of highs and lows and admittedly, i’ve been up on the clouds far more times than I expected.

A simple run down of what I have done so far: Baler days before the year started, Panagbenga Baguio weekend by February (a post I am yet to write), Cebu on February and March, Boracay on April, and Boracay and Batangas on May. It’s an adventure month after month and I am hoping that the latter half of the year ends on the same manner.

But first let me share some photos and details of the Batangas/Tagaytay trip with the Rockstar Bato Productions/StoneRock Bato Productions:

Tagaytay Sunrise with Ryan

We left Makati at 5am and had Tagaytay breakfast at 7am. It was in one of those roadside carinderia, giving us the volcanic view. The Bulalo wasn’t as good as we wish, though. From there we moved on to Batangas where we bought ingredients for sumptuous lunch. The public market, I realized, has its own distinctive smell, no matter what public market you are in. Such blast from the past!

There’s comfort somewhere in this room.

Karne for sale.

Katay baboy

Then off we went to Munting Buhangin Resort. It wasn’t what I expected and truth be told, I felt a little disappointed. But being with these guys, who’d feel down for so long?

Avellana Gallery: A Walk Through a Movie Set

In my continued attempts to live life and grab it by the balls despite despite-ofs, I wandered the metro with Margananda for one of our latest’s craze – reconnecting with the arts. Last weekend was a deal-sealer, I swear to god, rocks and all of you humans, my pre-nuptial photoshoot shall be done in art galleries (Bencab’s Museum and Avellana Art Gallery).

Avellana Art Gallery? Yes. Despite annoying bus drivers ad thousand commuters, beastly jeepneys and cabs, dirty fumes and all-over congested and dangerous streets that one might/would experience before reaching the gallery, I swear it was all worth it. Once you enter the gates, it was another world you would be into.

On the street side

Avellana Art Gallery was in a compound inspired from 50′s era residential area – two-floor wooden houses with huge sliding window and grills, vast yards with trees and garden tables and benches. Pathway was lined with trees. It was like walking into a movie set.

The exhibit we were going into was in one of the houses towards the end of the compound. It is run by Mr Albert Avellana who holds office in the gallery. Exhibit hall was two floors with really excellent lighting. I fell in love at first sight.

Here are some really really few photos of the gallery (sorry but my measly camera had hard time in low lights):

Opened and close

Open and wide

Then there are the art pieces displayed all over the gallery.

Here are two other houses I took photos of before my camera lashed out on me.

I wanna go back to you, Avellana.
