My relationship with the family is tricky. I love them to bits but as I grew older I figured our relationship is at its best when we seldom see other. Thus when an opportunity struck, I packed my bags and went to live in the metro. But I go back home from time to time to spend a day or two with them, and it’s always enjoyable like what happened last Sunday.
As a post-Valentines celebration, Dad treated us to a famous floating restaurant in the south – the Isdaan. We went there at around twelve in the afternoon. Wrong move, there were too many people waiting in line for their turn to sit in one of the huts and eat. There were simply too many people! It was a good half hour before we were entertained so to pass time, the picture-taking began early.

Brother.

We were seated in a hut at the Red Buddha wing. It was hard to choose food especially since there were many enticing viands in the menu and there were only five of us to share it. In the end, dad decided on getting a Mama Chit Bilao for us (tilapia, deep fried shrimps, fried chicken, liempo, steamed crabs, others i couldn’t remember) and an order of adobong spareribs. It took about more than half hour before the food arrived (by then, it was past one in the afternoon) and all we could think of was “food finally!” that we forgot to take pictures of the food. FAIL, yes.
The food was good. Nothing exceptional, really. Just like other dampa/seafood restaurant, the food were prepared only after you order (which explained the long wait). Livestock and seafood were fresh, that though I was sure of.
We went around the area after lunch. It was a big, big restau, about half of Enchanted Kingdom, if I may say so. It was relatively a new place, opened last September. The place’s attraction was it’s larger than life statues of random stuff. I couldn’t really say there was a central theme in its decor. It was more like a child’s toy box, only a thousand times bigger. There were statues of Batman, crocodiles, dinosaurs, King Kong, Buddhas, just to name a few. Nobody seems to mind the confusing decorations though as everyone was busy posing to take photos.
What’s really genius about the place though was that it wasn’t just a dining place. It was a park, full of activities to entertain diners. The whole time that we were waiting for the food, we didn’t feel bored because they run a mini talent show (Pilipinas Got Talent style) on a floating mini stage just below our area. There were roaming artists and bands, too (they ask for tips after each performance, of course).
Then there were the boat rides and the taksiyapo wall! Release anger after satisfying your hunger.

The place is still expanding. We noticed many cordoned-off area were construction was still on-going. I’d love to go back there after a couple of months and see the additions.
I’d recommend the place if you’re into a not-so-ordinary road trip. Or if you plan on visiting the farther places of the south, it was a really nice detour. Try it, long drive will be worth it!
